ESD Powder
Coatings

Sensitive electronics fail from static discharge long before visible damage occurs. IFS ESD powder coatings dissipate electrostatic charge at the surface, protecting components from the inside out, applied with standard equipment.

Technology Overview

Static Control
Built In

Electrostatic discharge or ESD is an abrupt and generally brief electric current that is created between two objects with differing electric capabilities. Though they can be small, the unwanted electrical currents can cause damage to electrical equipment.

Static electricity is often the main culprit. Just as something as simple as rubbing a balloon on your hair creates static electricity—the ESD event created is when your hair stands up—friction between objects is easily produced. It’s usually brief, but the discharge can be significant and can negatively affect electronic equipment.

IFS ESD powder coatings are formulated to dissipate surface charge through a controlled conductive pathway, maintaining resistivity within the 10⁴–10¹¹ ohm range that prevents charge accumulation without creating unintended ground paths.

01

Precision Charge Control

Formulated to deliver a surface resistivity of 10⁴–10¹¹ ohms, the range that reliably dissipates static charge without interfering with the grounding path. Tight resistivity tolerance is essential in electronics environments where 100 volts is sufficient to destroy a component.

02

No Special Application Equipment

IFS ESD powder coatings apply with standard electrostatic spray equipment already in use at your facility. No process modifications and no dedicated lines, just the same spray, cure, and inspection workflow as conventional powder, with built-in electrostatic dissipation.

03

Full Color and Finish Range

ESD protection does not dictate appearance. The formulation is available across thousands of IFS colors and gloss levels from 5 to 90, so ESD enclosures, cabinets, and workstations can be specified in any color required by your product design or facility standard.
