Technology Overview

Understanding
FEVE Fluoropolymer

FEVE (fluoroethylene vinyl ether) fluoropolymers represent the pinnacle of exterior powder coating technology. The IFS 500FP range uses Lumiflon, the industry's leading FEVE fluoropolymer powder resin, delivering color and gloss retention performance that outlasts every other powder chemistry by a significant margin.

Fluoropolymer powder coatings are specified almost exclusively for exterior architectural applications where long-term performance and gorgeous aesthetics are non-negotiable. IFS 500FP is available exclusively through the IFS Registered Applicator program.

01

Superior Color & Gloss Retention

Lumiflon FEVE resin delivers color and gloss stability far beyond any other powder chemistry, validated over decades of real-world exterior exposure on landmark buildings.

02

Maximum Corrosion Protection

Excellent chemical, abrasion, and corrosion resistance. Where standard and super durable polyesters reach their limits, FEVE fluoropolymer continues to perform.

03

AAMA 2605, The Highest Standard

Meets and exceeds the performance requirements of AAMA 2605, the most demanding architectural performance specification. The benchmark for curtain wall, high-rise façades, and monumental structures.

Lumiflon FEVE resin · AAMA 2605

Advantages

  • Superior weatherability, meets and exceeds the performance of AAMA 2605
  • Superior color and gloss retention over 20+ year service life
  • Excellent chemical, abrasion, and corrosion resistance
  • Excellent impact resistance and hardness vs liquid equivalents
  • Solid, metallic, and anodic style effects available
  • Custom color matching to architect palettes
  • Registered Applicator support and certification programme

Limitations

  • Available to IFS Registered Applicators only

Why Powder

vs Liquid Fluoropolymer

Powder advantages over solvent-borne liquid systems

Advantages

  • VOC-free, with zero solvent emissions vs liquid fluoropolymer systems
  • Factory-applied for consistent, controlled film thickness
  • One-coat application possible on pre-treated substrates
  • Reduced material waste, since overspray is recoverable
  • No hazardous waste disposal vs solvent-borne liquid systems

Limitations

  • Requires specialist application equipment and certified applicators
  • Longer lead time vs standard powder chemistries
