Polyurethane Powder
Polyurethane Powder
IFS polyurethane powder coatings exhibit properties similar to those of epoxy powders but also offer exterior durability. Polyurethane powders are more overbake stable than epoxies, though not as good as polyester TGIC powders.
Polyurethanes are most commonly found in exterior functional applications where chemical exposure is a concern.
IFS polyurethane advantages include:
- Adhesion
- Chemical resistance
- Corrosion resistance
- Flexibility
- Hardness
- Exterior durability
Their disadvantages can be summarized as follows:
- Restricted cure range (tight application and cure parameters)
- Odor on application and/or cure
- Smoke created during cure
- Cost
IFS polyurethane powders can also be custom formulated.
Please note that these represent general guidelines. Talk to the IFS lab or representative for a more detailed explanation and specific uses.
